Rating: G

One of my favorite scenes in the third installment, Traitor's Moon, is when a dragon bites Alec in the ear. 8D The custom of dyeing such bites blue leaves the boy with a nice piercing-esque tattoo on said appendage., and I thought it'd be a nice scene to illustrate as my first NR fanart attempt.
Only I gave up clothing him not even half-way and left it at that. OTL
Also spent an obscene amount of time analyzing Jonathan Brandis images since that's who Flewelling (
otterdance) mentions Alec resembles the most in her mind. Don't think all the scrutinizing did much help though, since I tried to portray his "honest face" and all he turns out looking like is some happy-go-lucky, not-quite-jailbait. OH WELL.

This is not quite how I envision Seregil--of course, this would suggest that I have a concrete mental image of Seregil to begin with. Not so. I don't do much envisioning of book characters in all honesty. My imagination is a very hazy place in terms of literary subjects ha ha ha. ... Somehow he looks like a generic APH!China? IDEK. I also obviously cannot design clothing for the love of anything holy.
The trippy colors are a byproduct of wanting to try out a goldfish effect (hence the splotches of orange and red), and also sheer laziness. Though, messing with the filters probably took as much time as would be needed had I colored it properly.
